Did you do know the skin is your largest organ?
Taking care of your skin is pretty important. Did you know that during the summer months, our skin can get dry and flaky, which is never fun as this is often when we wear the least layers of clothing? No one wants to be outside looking dry and ashy. We want to look vibrant and healthy!
One of my favorite things to do for my summer skin is good exfoliation—the process of taking care of our skin's surface layer. There are a few different ways this can be done. One popular process is the chemical peel. I am personally am not a fan of this method as I don't like putting synthetic ingredients on my skin. But I thought I should at least put it out there.
My preferred method is a granular exfoliation due to it's effectiveness and natural ingredients. Granular exfoliations allow you to use natural ingredients like sugar, coffee, herbs, and salt. They are generally safer and offer less chances of a dermal reaction. Add this Summer Scrub to your skin care routine and you will soon learn why it is one of my favorites.
Summer Scrub Recipe
1 cup Pure Cane Sugar
¼ cup Avocado oil
9 drops Lavender oil
5 drops Tea Tree oil
3 drops Peppermint oil
You can also add one capsule of Vitamin E oil
Add all ingredients to a bowl, mix well.
Transfer to the container of choice with a lid.
To use, take a small amount in hand (about one tablespoon) and rub it onto the body.
Rinse off well and dry the skin.
Note: Make sure to use caution in the bathtub or shower as the oils can make the stall slippery. It is also not suggested to go out into direct sunlight right after doing any scrubs or peels as they will leave your skin vulnerable to sun burn for a few days.
